The Best Thing..."The best thing to give to your enemy is forgiveness; to an opponent, tolerance;
to a friend, your heart; to your child, a good example; to a father, deference; to your mother, conduct that will make her
proud of you; to yourself, respect; to all men, charity." ~ Benjamin Franklin

Inventor Of Robot Arm DiesThe New York Times (8/16,
Pearce) reports, "George C. Devol, a largely self-taught inventor who drew from science fiction to help develop Unimate,
the revolutionary mechanical arm that became a prototype for robots now widely used on automobile assembly lines and in other
industries, died" last week on at his home in Connecticut. "In the early 1950s, before the advent of industrial
robotics, Mr. Devol (pronounced de-VAHL) built on his own work in electrical engineering and machine controls to design a
mechanical arm that could be programmed to repeat precise tasks, like grasping and lifting." According to the Times,
"In 1961, General Motors put the first Unimate arm on an assembly line at the company's plant in Trenton." Devol
was 99 years-old.

Most Manufacturers Adopt Green Strategies For Fiscal Reasons.Mass
High Tech (8/3, Maurno) reports that while some manufacturers adopt green production
strategies because of "sheer principle," for the majority of them "a green strategy has to make fiscal sense."
This is according to Jack Healy, director of the Massachusetts Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MassMEP), who said,
"If you can demonstrate that it's an opportunity to save money and reduce cost, then you have their attention."
Consultant and author Shel Horowitz agreed. "Generally, going green can cost less than not going green," he said.
"Lots of companies have adapted good practices to reduce their energy, water and waste - and these are companies that
are not selling a green product." The article compares practices in New England with the rest of the US, citing examples
of how companies have saved money by adopting green practices.

Be The Person....You have a clean slate every day you wake up. You have a chance every single morning
to make that change and be the person you want to be. You just have to decide to do it. Decide today's the day. Say it; This
is going to be my day. ~ Brendon Burchard
